Parent Partnerships

The Foundation for Educational Success

As we settle into the rhythm of this school year, it is important to take a moment to recognize the importance of parent partnerships and communication with the school. At NVCS we value our parent partnerships and recognize they are a key part of our school's success.

Let's Talk, Directly
One of our top priorities this year is making sure communication between our school and our families is clear, honest, and two-way. You shouldn't have to guess what's happening in your child's classroom, and we shouldn't have to guess what's on your mind. As a school, we're committed to:
  • Sharing regular, straightforward updates on school happenings, decisions, and plans.
  • Being accessible. Whether that's at pickup, during office hours, or by email
  • Listening first, before explaining or defending.
If something isn't clear, ask. If something feels off, tell us. Direct conversation, early and often, is how we stay aligned on what matters most: your child's success.

Partnering with Teachers
Our teachers are on the front lines every day, and they know your child in ways that data and report cards never fully capture. When families and teachers work as partners rather than as separate parties, students notice, and they benefit.
Here's how parents and guardians can strengthen that partnership:
  • Check in early, not just at conferences. A quick note to your child's teacher at the start of the year about how your child learns best, what excites them, or what they struggle with goes a long way.
  • Ask questions before assuming. Teachers want to know how your child is feeling and be able to explain their thinking. A five-minute conversation can clear up most misunderstandings.
  • Show up when you can. Whether it's a conference, a classroom event, lunch with your student on your day off, or just replying to a teacher's email, your presence tells your child that school and home are on the same team.
NVCS staff is ready to partner with you to offer an outstanding experience. Your continued engagement and open communication is paramount for success.

Bringing Concerns to Us
No school is perfect, and ours is no exception. When something isn't working, we want to hear about it from you, directly, and as soon as possible. Here's why that matters: concerns that stay unspoken can't be fixed. Concerns that are shared with us, even the uncomfortable ones, give us the chance to actually do something about them.

When you bring a concern forward:
  1. Start with the person closest to it, usually your child's teacher, since most issues are resolved at that level. Please follow the golden rule when communicating and remember that we are all on the same team.
  2. Escalate when needed. If a concern isn't resolved or it's bigger than one classroom, bring it directly to our leadership team. Our doors and our inboxes are open.
  3. Expect a response. You deserve to know that your concern was heard and to understand what happens next, even if the answer isn't immediate.
We can't promise every concern will end in the outcome you hoped for, but we can promise it will be heard, taken seriously, and met with an honest effort to make things better. None of this works without all of us showing up for it: school leadership, teachers, and families alike. We're grateful for this community and for the trust you place in us every day!

Let's keep talking, keep partnering, and keep working together for our students to ensure we provide them with the best recipe for educational success this year and for years to come!

Have a great weekend,

Safety Corner

Good evening, Nighthawk family,

Welcome back to school! I hope everyone had a wonderful summer. It has been great to see all the familiar and new faces of New Vision. As we begin the new school year, I wanted to update everyone on the process for the safety corner.

In previous years, I would offer weekly safety corner messages, and as I reflected on last year, I realized that the safety corner felt redundant, with a lot of filler information. This year I will be doing a monthly safety corner that will be feedback- and data-driven. The next safety corner will be at the end of the first week of September. It will consist of information and feedback given from the first two weeks of school as well as general safety tips for the driveline,

I would like to thank everyone for doing such a great job with the driveline the first week of school. There are lots of new students and parents, and students who have never seen the driveline process, but everyone did a great job following instructions at the intersections and showing patience as we begin to settle into the school year. Our first full-day driveline was the fastest first-day driveline we’ve ever had, and that is due to all of you doing your part to have eyes up, phones down, and following instructions. Remember, turn signals are your way of communicating your intentions to me; my hand signals are my way of communicating what I need you to do.

Here’s to another amazing year; let’s all do our part to make it a safe one!
