Michael Hinterberg

This year, Michael Hinterberg is honored to serve as the current BOD President and remains committed to continuing and building upon the success of New Vision. He has served on the BOD for three years, and his son (6th grade) and daughter (2nd grade) both attend NVCS. His wife, Jessica, is a school counselor in the Thompson School District. During his time on the board, Mike has helped define the school pillars of Community, Innovation, and Growth within the 2023-28 NVCS Strategic Plan and remains dedicated to those ideals.

His professional background spans statistics, data analysis, computer science, and engineering. He began his career testing computer chips and later transitioned to biological data analysis for health diagnostics. At each stage, he has enjoyed the puzzle of solving problems with science. He is proud to be a graduate of the University of Wisconsin (BS 2000), the University of Minnesota (MS 2002), and the University of Colorado-Denver Anschutz (PhD 2016). He is also a lifelong learner who has studied at Front Range Community College and Colorado State University. Along the way, he taught engineering and statistics as a teaching assistant and lecturer.

Beyond the board, he chairs Loveland’s Open Lands and Trails, and recently began helping with NVCS cross country coaching, where he is continually inspired by the growth and camaraderie of student-athletes. Personally, he enjoys running, biking, skiing, paddleboarding, and camping with his family, as well as traveling when possible. In quieter moments, he turns to reading, writing, listening to records, and gardening.

Rob Protzman

Rob Protzman is the current Vice President of the New Vision Charter School Board and is serving his third year. His commitment to NVCS spans nearly two decades, beginning shortly after the school’s inception. Rob’s unique perspective is built on his history as a former NVCS employee, a long-term IT partner, and a proud parent: his oldest daughter attended NVCS from kindergarten through 8th grade, and his youngest is currently a 6th-grade student. Professionally, Rob draws on his extensive experience as a nonprofit board member and a business owner, which allows him to bring a pragmatic approach to organizational structure, budgeting, and fiscal decision-making. He holds a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies from Colorado State University, grounding his governance in a deep understanding of childhood education and growth.

Heidi Mockerman

A Colorado native, Heidi was born and raised in Denver, where she attended schools from kindergarten through high school. She earned her BA in Human Development and Family Studies at Colorado State University, and then earned her master’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Colorado. Heidi's first teaching position was in Keenesburg, Colorado, where she taught one year of third grade and five years of fifth grade. She grew to love the community that she found in the small town. So, when she married her husband, Drew, they lived in a few small towns before choosing to settle in the Loveland/Berthoud area. Since Heidi's oldest daughter was born, she has been a stay-at-home mom. Over the last 10 years, the Mockerman family has grown by two more children and built their home in Berthoud, starting a small excavating business. Heidi has a passion for children and education.  She loves sharing children’s literature, playing games, facilitating children’s crafts and activities, playing with kids outside, and watching children play freely. If she is not at home doing dishes or laundry, you can find her volunteering at the school, cheering or coaching on the sidelines of her kids’ sporting events, elbow-deep in dirt in her garden, or taking care of the family's animals and livestock. Heidi is proud to serve the New Vision Community as a member of its Board of Directors.

Eric Sakimoto

Eric has a diverse professional background. He has over 19 years of experience as a District Sales Manager for the Taylor Guitar Company. In this role, he manages 15 states across the western United States. He collaborates with 55 independent music stores, providing advice on creating guitar assortments for each store. Additionally, he assists in developing sales and marketing strategies. Eric’s responsibilities also involve traveling to these stores to offer in-store support, including training sessions, evening presentations, and in-person meetings. All of this is while managing an annual budget and sales goals. On a personal note, Eric cherishes quality time with his family. They enjoy trips to Denver, camping in the Rocky Mountains, and spending time with close family and friends. He also loves cooking delicious meals and is learning the art of BBQing. When he has free time, he enjoys watching Colorado sports, particularly the Broncos, Nuggets, and Avalanche.

Dana Engelhardt

Dana Engelhardt is a dedicated community member, parent, and 4-H leader with a strong commitment to supporting youth and families. Her professional experience in the legal system lends itself to strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to support individuals through challenging situations. Beyond her career, they volunteer as a 4-H leader, mentoring youth, fostering leadership skills, and creating hands-on learning experiences. Her life experience as an NVCS parent and active community member provides a deep understanding of the importance of a strong school, collaboration, and transparent communication for being an effective board member. 

Amy Holly

Amy Holly has three daughters at New Vision, grades 2, 4, and 6, and her husband is a special education teacher for Thompson School District. The Holly family has lived in Loveland since 2012, but is originally from Kentucky. Outside of her role on the board, Amy is a freelance writer and editor as well as a full-time faculty member in creative writing and literature at Front Range Community College in Fort Collins. Her hobbies include running, snowboarding, and rock climbing, as well as reading and writing.

Noelle Wilcox

Noelle Wilcox is a registered nurse with previous experience in pediatrics. She has been an active member of the NVCS PTO, where she has regularly volunteered for PTO activities, offered classroom support, and supported various other school initiatives over the past four years. Outside her roles as a mom and board member, she has served as a volunteer project leader for their children’s 4-H club for the past six years. Noelle is excited to serve on the Board of Directors and to have the opportunity to serve students, staff, and the larger community while in this role.
